Mara’s cold wax and oil paintings are textural works that seek to make memories and the passage of time visible. Her paintings represent a combination of ideas and objects derived from stored memories. We record our personal history by collecting momentary glimpses of our environment and our relationships with objects and people. If a memory was laid down then these sights and feelings remain in our subconscious having been converted into a construct. Each painting of mine has its own unique story whether it is one of humor or tension. My personal lexicon of shapes, whether, house, boats, or object like coffee cups, cakes or cactus represent her search for a comfortable place.
