Artist Statement

I come from a family of artists, writers, and performers who have always encouraged creative exploration. My paintings draw inspiration from traditional landscapes, engaging with ideas of foreground and background, movement, structure, and scale. I enjoy challenging these conventions by layering compositional elements in unexpected ways, often breaking the horizon and reimagining proportion.

My work reflects a deep consideration of form and color, with recurring visual themes that create a dialogue between individual pieces. Painting on wood panels enables me to explore the texture and thickness of the paint, highlighting the physical interaction between the medium and the surface. This tactile engagement is central to my practice.

I work primarily with cold wax and oil, responding intuitively to the materials and allowing the process to guide the outcome. Whether exploring the personality in house-like shapes or incorporating the texture and weight of found objects, my intent remains the same: to explore the edge of experience without revealing too much. Each colorful, textured painting invites the viewer to pause, feel, and find their meaning.
